Sandhill Crane Studio is a web development and design practice founded by Mindy Hu & Jack Lenehan. We are a designer-developer and a software engineer who happen to be partners in both senses of the word.
Two people means you always know who’s building your site. No handoffs, no account manager, no template with your logo dropped on top- just the two of us, designing and coding every piece from scratch.

Mindy Hu
Design & Development
Mindy still gets genuinely excited about making a website look good. After a career path that wandered through social media, e-commerce, front-end development, and technical program management, turns out the making-things part was the part she still gets joy out of. She’s always chasing the small creative touch that makes a site feel like someone’s, not just a template with a new logo slapped on.
She shoots photography on the side, has a fashion habit she’s not going to pretend to apologize for, and can talk your ear off about whatever the latest is in TV, movies, and celeb gossip.
Jack Lenehan
Backend & Infrastructure
Jack’s a software engineer currently building at Stripe, which means he has very strong, very specific opinions about how a site should actually be built underneath the pretty parts, not just how it looks, but whether it holds up.
Lately he’s deep into film photography, teaching himself to shoot fully manual. He also enjoys kayaking on the Chicago river, often helping with river cleanups. On Sundays you can catch him at the local game store, for Magic: The Gathering.
